Free download came with threats? I downloaded the current version to two machines running 10.7.3 and both identified two threats that loaded with the download? They did clean and were not there after rescanning, but this looks like it if fishing for maching passwords that you need to unlock the clean tab?

How to download and install Sophos Anti-Virus on Mac and Windows.

Installing Sophos Anti-Virus on Windows Sophos.
*Note: In order to install Sophos Anti-Virus, you must remove all other anti-virus programs from your machine.
1. Begin by visiting the Licensed Software Downloads page. On this page, enter your myNMSU username in the Username box and your myNMSU password in the Password box, to confirm that you are an NMSU affiliate. Now click Sign in.
2. The next page will display all of the free. software downloads available to you. Scroll down the list and click on Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows. Save the file that is downloaded and open it. When you open the file, a Security Warning will come up; it is ok to Run this file. Now a User Account Control window will come up; click Yes.
3. Sophos Anti-Virus will now be installed on your machine. Once Sophos is installed, the icon will appear on your taskbar. After installation, you will need to connect to the Internet so that Sophos can download updates; this could take several minutes. After this process is finished, Sophos should be running on your machine.
*When updating, the Sophos icon will flash green. When updating is complete, it will stop.
**If you are installing a new version of Sophos, the icon will reappear on the taskbar after installation.
4. The PC Issues icon in the taskbar will have a red X if the anti-virus program is not on. To activate Sophos, connect to the Internet, right-click on the Sophos icon, and click Update.
*Sophos will automatically update daily unless your computer is disconnected from the Internet. If Sophos is not active, update it by following the previous steps to protect your computer.

In order to install Sophos Anti-Virus, you must remove all other anti-virus programs from your machine.
1. Begin by visiting the Licensed Software Downloads page. On this page, enter your myNMSU username in the Username box and your myNMSU password in the Password box, to confirm that you are an NMSU affiliate. Now click Sign in.
2. The next page will display all of the free. software downloads available to you. Scroll down the list and click on Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X.
*This will download a '.zip' file that you can open from your browser's downloads folder or by navigating to your Apple Finder>downloads>and double-clicking on the '.zip' file there.
**A window may appear telling you that a program will be run to determine if the software can be installed on your machine. Click Continue.
3. Next, the Sophos Anti-Virus Installer will come up; click Continue. In the Important Information window, read through the information and click Continue.
4. The next window will be the Software License Agreement. Read through this agreement and click Continue. In the next window, click the Agree button if you agree to the License terms OR Disagree if you do not; if you disagree, you will exit the setup.
*You may be prompted to enter in your admin password, for your computer, to continue.
5. The next window will be labeled Select a Destination. Make sure your Hard Disk is selected and click Continue. The next window will display the space Sophos Anti-Virus will take up on your Hard Disk. Click Install.
6. The next window will be a summary; click Continue. The next window will say the installation was successful. Click Close.
7. Sophos Anti-Virus is now installed on your machine. To activate Sophos, click on the shield icon in the taskbar and click Update.
*NOTE: Sophos may take a few minutes to fully download after these steps, and won't begin working right away. If you receive specific or repeating error messages after the download is completely finished, contact the ICT Help Desk at 646-1840, come by room 141 of the Computer Center, or e-mail us at help@nmsu.edu.
